Privacy notice
Who we are
United Nations Headquarters ("UNHQ", "we", "us") is an unofficial Roblox roleplay community run by volunteers. The owners of the community decide how the information on this site is used, so they are the data controller. We are not affiliated with the United Nations, Roblox Corporation or Discord.
Contact: message one of the owners or open a ticket in our Discord server. Use this for any privacy question or request.
What we collect and why
| When | What | Why, and our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Anyone visiting | Your IP address and browser details reach our hosting provider, Cloudflare, as part of loading the page. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and countries without cookies and without identifying you. | To deliver the site, keep it secure and see roughly how many people visit. Legitimate interests. |
| Anyone viewing the map | The map code is loaded from cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) and jsDelivr, so your browser connects to them and they see your IP address. | To draw the interactive map. Legitimate interests. |
| Signing in with Discord | Your Discord user ID, username, display name and profile picture. We ask Discord only for the "identify" permission, so we never see your email address, servers or messages. | To know who you are for proxy voting and the Staff panel. Legitimate interests; you choose whether to sign in. |
| Casting a proxy vote | The nation, agenda item, your vote, the time, and your Discord user ID and username. Staff can see this, and it may be posted to a staff Discord channel. | To run fair votes and stop misuse of nation keys. Legitimate interests. |
| Staff | Your Discord user ID, username, an optional name, and who added you. Map edits and agenda items record the username of the staff member who made them. | To control who can use the Staff panel and keep a record of changes. Legitimate interests. |
| Nation owners and post holders | The Roblox or Discord names that staff enter for nation owners on the map and for posts in the Main bodies and Secretariat. These are shown publicly and may be posted to Discord. | To show who holds each nation and role in the roleplay. Legitimate interests. |
We don't sell your information, show ads, build profiles of you, or make automated decisions about you. Please don't enter anyone's real-life details (real names, addresses, schools, ages and so on) anywhere on this site.
Storage in your browser
We don't use cookies. The site saves a few items in your browser's local storage: your chosen language, your Discord sign-in (for up to 7 days, or until you sign out), which sections you left open, and which Account tab you last used. These are needed for features you ask for, never leave your browser except for the sign-in check described below, and are not used for tracking. You can remove them at any time by signing out or clearing your browser's site data.
Your Discord sign-in token is sent to our server only so that the server can ask Discord who you are. The server never stores it.
Who else handles your information
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the voting server (Cloudflare Pages, Workers and Workers KV).
- Discord handles sign-in, provides profile pictures, and stores any messages our webhooks post to Discord channels.
- cdnjs and jsDelivr provide the map code.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. They rely on recognised safeguards for those transfers, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the UKโUS data bridge.
How long we keep it
- Votes: until staff delete the agenda item, or until you delete your data.
- Staff records: until you are removed from staff or delete your data.
- Map, Main bodies and Secretariat names: until staff change them, or until you ask us to remove yours.
- Sign-in in your browser: up to 7 days, or until you sign out.
- Discord channel messages: until server staff delete them. Ask us if you want yours removed.
- Hosting logs: kept by Cloudflare under its own retention rules.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law (UK GDPR and EU GDPR) you can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to how we use it, or get a copy to take elsewhere.
- Do it yourself: sign in, open Account โบ Profile โบ Your data, and choose Download my data or Delete my data. Deleting removes your Discord name and ID from your votes and other records and removes you from staff. Your nation's votes still count.
- Anything else (for example removing your name from the map or from Discord messages): contact us as above. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Signing in needs a Discord account, and Discord requires users to be at least 13 (older in some countries). Features that need sign-in are only for people who meet Discord's minimum age. If you believe a child under that age has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Terms of use
- Unofficial fan community. United Nations Headquarters is a roleplay community. It is not the United Nations and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the United Nations, Roblox Corporation or Discord. Roblox and Discord are trademarks of their owners. Our emblem is an original design.
- Roleplay content. Nations, votes, resolutions and roles on this site are part of a game. They aren't real political statements or official documents.
- Nation keys. Keep your nation's key private and share it only with people allowed to vote for your nation. Staff can replace or revoke a key at any time.
- Fair use. Don't try to access the Staff panel or the voting server without permission, interfere with votes, overload the site, or post anyone's real-life personal information.
- Community rules. Roblox's and Discord's own terms and community rules still apply to you.
- No guarantees. The site is run by volunteers and provided as it is. We may change, pause or remove features and content at any time.
- Changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when this notice or these terms change.
